The main goal of this endeavor is to start the process of expanding awareness and fan base, initially for the new album. Laughing Man Records LLC is the business center for my music productions and merchandise. I am looking to go out and build an audience to not only facilitate more production of my own music but to employ the services of musicians in the FunkyBand circle and other artists such as Tribal Suns, who I am currently producing. Touring and live appearances are the best promotion activities in which any artist can partake. In the past year I have performed for tourists from all over the world at my main gig in San Francisco at the Union Room. I have also experienced successful concerts in front of many large audiences. I feel uniquely qualified and primed to take the bold steps in the direction I've been striving for nearly the whole of my life.
I have never been more capable to make a positive mark in the world than now as an artist, performer, music producer. I am prepared to share my best and get better in doing so! Artistic growth and the future as an independent small business owner depend on an ability to pull resources and people together. Creating 'something from nothing' is what artists do. As important as it is to make music, it is nothing without people to hear it and possibly be moved by it!
Art has traditionally been funded by 'patrons' and then music by fans with record label corporations as middlemen. The new music business model is more direct. I call upon those of you who have supported my cause or purchased my music in the past to step up yet again, hopefully because you know I can do this or because of wanting to take part in seeing it get done!
At this time it is more advantageous to tour initially as a soloist then build up in steps to the full band. The touring will be constant and I will be in communication from the road through my BLOG, email newsletter and social networking sites. You can take part in the start of a productive business cycle and perpetuate the creative flow I'm experiencing now! Help bring this goal to fruition and receive a music-centered "perk" in exchange!
October 15, 2010 is when our "crowd-funding" campaign on IndieGoGo.com ends, but don't let that stop you from jumping in and taking part in this potentially life-changing venture NOW! Momentum is everything!
My hope is that you will consider a pledge from $15 to $1,000 (or more) to propel the new album "Expose Your Self" into the marketplace in the U.S. and Europe. Your 'seed-investment', in exchange for whatever "perk" incentive you choose, will also help to establish a tour budget for the "First Phase" of the promotion of the album, a solo tour to the East Coast and across the Atlantic to the UK and territories of Europe to establish festival performances in Summer 2011.
At the forefront of the current DIY(Do it Yourself) movement in the music industry and other "art-based" projects in need of funding in this challenging economic climate "Crowd-funding" has become the best method because it is supported directly by people who care about the projects or the artist. a vital and community-connecting method of financing
This has been something I have worked diligently at, to be at a level to tour internationally to promote the best work of my life and my life's work in general. The only thing holding me back is a lack of funds like most business start-ups. I have invested my own money along with the most precious resource, time.
